Disney Pixar's Wall-E Movie and Toys
Meet Wall-E!!
Awhile back I took my 3 kids to see the Disney movie Wall-E. Not only did my kids love it, I loved it, and my mother loved it. Three generations LOVED this movie! It was just a great feel good movie for everyone and I swear I almost cried a couple times. No it wasn't sad, just really, really sweet. Kids everywhere will come to adore this movie and it has great life lessons to teach.
The best part about the movie though is the strong environmental theme. I have a green family and we try to maintain a green household but I try not to do too much lecturing on green issues because I don't want them to feel resentful. This movie makes the eco theme very fun and enjoyable and really puts things in simple terms so kids understand the urgency.
The basic story is that Wall-E, an adorable little robot that is left on planet earth alone while humans have abandoned the planet after it can no longer sustain life. Wall-E collects little knick-knacks as mementos and spends his days compacting garbage and making skyscraper tall stacks with them. One day a spaceship drops off another robot named Eva and her directive is to find evidence that the planet can sustain life again. In the event that she finds this evidence she must report back to the humans who are know living in space on a space cruise ship of sorts.
So can Eva find any evidence that earth can be inhabited again? How did it get this way in the first place? Can Wall-E and Eva bring humans back to earth and help them take care of their planet this time? I hope you'll watch the movie and find out.

A Closer Look at the Movie
Just before the start of the movie "WALL-E" there was a short feature about a magician and his white rabbit. The feature was called: "Presto Bunny". It was a wonderful and very funny animated feature that definitely had a giggle factor for the kids and the adults. I have to say that I enjoyed the short feature more than the "WALL-E" movie but that isn't to say the 'WALL-E" movie wasn't entertaining.
"WALL-E" is a love story between two robots. WALL-E (Waste Allocator Load Lifter - Earth Class) is the last robot left on a very polluted Earth. His duties are to clean up the Earth while the humans have been evacuated to a spaceship habitat called Axiom for five years. 700 years later Axiom is still roaming space.
Back on Earth things change for WALL-E when Eva shows up. She is a female robot whose directive is to search for life. WALL-E becomes curious with Eva and then falls in love with her. Eva at first is only interested in her directive but eventually warms up and falls in love with WALL-E.
WALL-E's adventures begin when a spaceship returns to pick up Eva. WALL-E hitches a ride on the spaceship and finds himself on a spaceship filled with humans and an unusual assortment of robots.
The kids and the adults in the theater audience were just spell bound by the spectacular animation in the movie. At some points during the movie WALL-E even made the kids cry. Like I said earlier, the movie was entertaining but I felt the plot was a bit slow at times. I would have liked some more twists and turns in the story plot to keep my attention.
"WALL-E" really makes you think about the most trivial things we throw out and how our habits affect our planet. Recent pictures of garbage lining the roads in Naples Italy come to mine. This movie will definitely keep the kids quite for a few hours and make you think about how we all can be greener in our habits. Come to think of it, I did see a discarded mall parking lot lamp post on the side of the road when I left the theater.
I wonder what we can do about that. Hmmm....
